A Vivid Memory

Here's the thing about vivid memories - I don't have any.

If I do, they're bad ones. Sad memories or times I've gotten hurt. Things that I really don't want to put on the internet.

I have memories. My mind is full of them. As I searched my brain for the perfect story to tell for the final Blog Everyday in May prompt (A Vivid Memory), I thought of several events in my life.

When my friends and I went to see Urinetown.

Doing a "superman yoga" photo shoot in the Appalachian mountains.

My 8th grade graduation banquet.

Endless musicals, concert, and music contests in high school.

Singing Jesus songs by the pond with my friends one perfect summer day.

Weeks of Welcome Staff.

Countless youth ministry stories.

Late nights at IHOP and Molly Malones when I was in college. Here's hoping Laura doesn't mind me putting up this picture of her...

The list continues.

But are any of these vivid? Nope. I can remember bits and pieces of them. I can tell you some quotes that are now infamous with my group of friends. I can tell you who is there and a few things that may have happened. Are they vivid though? I don't think so.

I can't tell you what we wore (unless I have a picture of the memory) or the expressions on people's faces or the way the air felt and how we moved. I can't recall who sat next to who or who arrived early and who came late. I don't remember the events that led up to that moment.

Maybe I'm losing my memory in my old age. (Haha.) Maybe if I stared at a photo long enough I would be able to share with you more details as they came to mind.

This makes me sad. I always felt like I had a good memory- but apparently not. I want to remember those times, the jokes, the people, and the events.

So how do you do it? How do you keep those memories alive? How do you recall those little details so they don't get lost forever?

Today's prompt: A Vivid Memory

That's it folks! It is the LAST DAY of Blog Everyday in May. Whew. Crazy. It was really fun though. Challenging at times because I wouldn't know what to write for a prompt, or I was really busy some days and wouldn't have time or motivation to write a post. However, every day this month there was a new post up on this blog. I'm pretty proud of myself to be honest.

So, what's next? Well... I'm trying to figure that out.

I love the idea of having something regular going. I loved seeing a new post go up everyday and it gave some continuity this blog needed. Everyday, 8am. People know what to expect and can find me easily. That's exciting!

Besides... all of the cool bloggers do it. ;-)

At the same time, I don't think I could do seven days a week. Five maybe? Or is that even too much? Three? I'm not sure. What if I can't think of anything to write?

So I'm going to think about it for a bit. No new posts this weekend, maybe Monday, maybe later in the week. Be sure I'm on your Bloglovin, Feedly, Facebook, Twitter, etc. so you can be in the know.

However - I do need your help! Summer is my busy time of year. Between Romeo and Juliet, VBS, and various church trips which take me out of town for most of July, I'm not going to have time to write a bunch. Which means - I need guest bloggers! If you're interested let me know.

In the meantime- have a great weekend! May has been awesome, and welcome June!

  3. I don't have that many vivid memories either... how do people do it?! Especially from childhood. It usually takes a photo to jog something, so I'm just trying to get better at taking lots of pictures and documenting the special moments :)
