My Love

It's a good thing that today is the last day of my 30 Day Book Challenge - because I keep on needing to catch up!

Day 29: A Book Everyone Hated But You Liked

GAH. This is the third post in this challenge where I am completely embarrassed. But... here we go. Don't hate me after you read this, please.

Twisted Titles

Day 28: Favorite Book Title

This was tough because I had to think of the titles and not the books themselves. But I decided on a trilogy. The Gemma Doyle Series. The titles Libba Bray chose I simply LOVE.

I Love Not Knowing

Day 27- The Most Surprising Plot Twist or Ending

Most books, TV shows, and movies don't surprise me anymore. I can usually guess what's going to happen at the end, or I'll have two scenarios in mind. Because stories can usually go about 2 or 3 ways. Since I read so much - I usually can figure out what's going to happen. Therefore, I tend to enjoy the journey there. That's usually what surprises me and gets me into the story.

This book was different. While by the end I was able to somewhat figure out the end - I wasn't able to completely. Which was awesome! That never happens!

Drugs, Foster Care, and Music

Day 26: A Book That Changed Your Mind About Something

I wouldn't say this book really changed my mind about anything - but it definitely helped me to be more sympathetic and open minded.

Yet Again - I Have Some Catching Up To Do

Hello all! I hope you had a wonderful, beautiful, blessed, amazing Easter weekend. Mine was awesome, but crazy busy. Thus... the lack of posts about books. So, here is yet another catch-up post.

Also, I'm VERY disappointed in all of you for not voting on my poll. You have one more day! >:-(

If Good Friday and I were to have a relationship status on Facebook... it would be "It's Complicated."

Growing Up In America

Day 21: Favorite Book From Your Childhood

Hmm.... well, I already did this in a way. You can find it here. But I guess I can briefly talk about one. Or to be more specific - a book series.

Last Night I Dreamt I Went To Manderely Again

First of all, check out the poll to your right! Should this blog have a Facebook page???

Also, my blog now has it's own domain! www.lovewokemeupthismorning.com. :D Which is really exciting, but I'm still working out all of the kinks. So bear with me!

Now that you've done that... onto the 30 Day Book Challenge!

Day 19: Favorite Book That Turned Into A Movie

Love and Dissapointment

Hey guys!  The Love Drop team is at it again!  Last month they gave over $5,000 worth of cash and goods to their recipient, Katie, who had been battling a couple of brain tumors over the years, and it culminated with a surprise gift of 15+ friends showing up at her house to celebrate with her. It was awesome. You can watch how it all went down here.
This month they start all over again and grow support for the Kahlen's - a family who has been hit hard by the economy, and by their daughter's serious medical condition, tuberous sclerosis. In addition to financial assistance, they're planning to unite the artistic community to help support Kent's glassmaking work.

My Epic Blog Catch Up Post

Here I am! As promised, today I am catching up on my 30 Day Book Challenge. Sorry I'm so behind! April has been turning out to be a crazy busy month! Here we go. Days 13-17. I'll do my best to keep it short.

Without Purpose

Day 12: A Book You Used To Love But Don't Anymore

Today will be a bit different - because I won't  be talking about a novel this time.

This is a book that I had to read for my youth ministry class in college. I read it a second time at the beginning of my internship a few years ago. I don't know if I ever LOVED the book - but I do know that I really liked it and I had a lot of appreciation for the author and all that he had done. It also gave me great ideas for ministry! But now... not so much.

An Evil Garden and Beautiful Sunrises

Oh the wonders of technology and being able to schedule blog posts for when I'm out of town. Yup, I haven't been around for the last three days because I was spending it with 50+ seventh and eighth graders! Needless to say . . . I'm completely exhausted. But we had a blast! What's so great about these retreats is you get to see some of the youth at their best and how much God can do in only a few days. Here are some highlights of the weekend:

Mom and Sister Bonding

Day 10: Favorite Classic Book

This is probably going to sound crazy cliche and girly - but I don't care!

I love Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin.

Alien Love

Day 9: A Book You Thought You Wouldn't Like But Ended Up Loving

I avoided reading this book for a long time. It was almost how I felt about the book with Miley's face on it. Owning all of the Twilight books and seeing all of the movies was humiliation enough - did I really have to buy Stephenie Meyer's other book?

But after almost two years of prodding from one of my teenagers (who LOVES Twilight. The books, not the movies, she probably wants you to know.) and her saying "But Emily, this one is sooooo much better than Twilight!"

It's Not Easy Being Green

Day 8: Most Overrated Book

YET AGAIN I had issues deciding what book to pick. (I'm noticing a trend here.) This time I actually had a decent size list of books I felt like I could feature.

I Like to Pretend I'm Irish Sometimes

Day 7: Most Underrated Book

First, I just want to say that doing blogs on books has been so much fun, simply for the fact that there are so many fellow readers out there who have the same feelings about books and novels as I do!

Yet again - I had a hard time figuring out what book to write about for today. There are so many books that I enjoy, but I was having difficulty figuring out which was the most underrated. I guess that's why they call it a 30 Day CHALLENGE, right?

Miley Cyrus Makes Me Cry

Day 5: A Book That Makes You Sad

At first, I didn't want to read it. I mean... freaking Miley Cyrus was on the cover for crying out loud. I tried to find a copy that didn't have her face, but I simply couldn't. Going up to the counter to buy the book was humiliating. What respectable 24 year old buys a book with Miley on the cover? I mean, really. But the movie was coming out, I was sure some 8th grade girl was going to want to go see it, and it was by Nicholas Sparks. I've never seen a movie or read a book of his that I didn't like. So... I bought it.

And.... I liked it.

Wooden People and Castles

Day 5: A Book that Makes You Smile

Once again- I couldn't pick just one. I fail. Oh well. But I consider this more of 1 1/2 books rather than two... you'll understand as you keep reading.

A book that always makes me smile is Max Lucado's You Are Special. It's a children's book, so that's where the 1/2 comes in.

I'll Never Let Go

Day 2: A Book You Have Read More Than 3 Times

This was actually somewhat difficult to think of. While I have re-read books several times, I haven't as much lately as I did back in jr. high and high school. Unless you count Harry Potter of course, but I have already established that I will not be using Harry Potter to answer these questions for the 30 Day Book Challenge. I looked at my bookshelf for awhile as I debated which book to feature in today's post. Searching for the novels whose spines have several bent marks in them and pages that have been softened from having been turned so often.

This is Me Jumping on the Bandwagon

If you are familiar with the blogging world, or even the Facebook world, you probably have noticed that there has been a craze over "30 Days Of..." Pictures, facts about yourself, etc. Some have been fun to follow, and you learn a lot about a person. However, I did not want to do one until the "fad" was over. Because then I could at least attempt to appear to be different than everyone else. Well... that was a fail.
