My Favorite Things - February

For the past year, at the end of every month I have posted a list of the top 10 songs I've been listening to.

I think it's time to switch things up. While I love getting music suggestions from people. I've found that I have enjoyed reading/watching people's recommendations about almost EVERYTHING. Not just music. Therefore, I'm going to copy them and do the same thing. We'll see how it goes. I might switch back to just music next month. It all depends on my mood I guess.

On Creativity

It should come as no surprise to anyone that I love the TV Smash. You know, that show about people on Broadway and they sing and dance a lot? Yeah. That one. I'm absolutely in love with it and so far the second season is even better than the first. Especially now that Jeremy Jordan who was the original Jack Kelly in Newsies on Broadway (which I saw last year!). He's amazing.

Jeremy Jordan, Newsie, will be joining the cast of 'Smash'

A Not So Average Weekend

I think I need to come to terms with the fact that I don't have "normal" weekends.

Either I'm hanging out with zombies or I spend it with a ton of teenagers. Although by the end of the weekend, it can be hard to tell the difference between the two. I suppose that's one of the "hazards" of working in youth ministry. But if you don't expect this to happen... maybe it's not the right job for you.

For people who are familiar with the "sterotypcial" youth ministry world, when you think of youth retreats and trips there are a few things which come to mind:

- Loud music
- Crazy games
- Hundreds of hormonal teenagers
- A big mess
- No sleep
- Making sure nothing breaks
- Poking the teenagers every few minutes to be sure they're still awake during Bible study

I Spent The Weekend With a Zombie

As far as weekends go, this past one was pretty quiet. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about that.

Okay, that's a lie. I knew exactly how I felt about it.

I hate quiet weekends. They make me feel like I fail at being in my 20's. Aren't 20-something girls supposed to be galavanting around town on the weekends, going to bars, having dates with cute boys, and laughing with their friends? Because if that's what we're supposed to do, I'm failing at being a 20-something female.

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes

Believe it or not...Harry Potter wasn't the only thing I did in Orlando.

I know... I know... it's hard to believe but there are other things to enjoy in Orlando beyond Harry Potter. It was a shock to me too. ;-)

For our second full day in Florida, Lor, Kirstie, and I had no idea what we wanted to do, but decided on Downtown Disney

The day mainly consisted of us taking pictures at the Lego Store - cause these Lego sculptures are awesome.

In A World Of Pure Imagination

I made it guys. I finally made it to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

That is... The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL.

I'm a poor church worker friends - I can't afford to go off to Europe to find the real Hogwarts. ;-)

This however, made me feel as though I really had just departed Platform 9 3/4, boarded the Hogwarts Express, and entered the halls of Harry Potter's beloved school.
