ABC... Simple As 123...

Two of my blog friends, Kirstie and Willie, did this little book survey on their blogs this week... so I decided to steal the idea.

My ABC's of Reading.

And if you don't care about books, be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post for a new feature on the blog!

Author you've read the most books from:
Probably Robin Jones Gunn because the Christy Miller Series has 12 books, then I've read two of the spin off trilogies.

Best Sequel Ever:
Something Blue by Emily Giffen? (The sequel to Something Borrowed.) I'm not really sure what counts for this one. I read mainly stand alone books and series... and I feel like series don't count...

Currently Reading:
Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier and listening to The Time Traveler's Wife by Audry Niffinger.

Drink of Choice While Reading:
Coffee is always a good choice, but wine works well too.

E-reader or Physical Book?
Physical books will always be my favorite. But I've grown to like e-readers. Especially for traveling, and when you search the sales often, you can get some great deals on books!

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Dated in High School:
Todd from the Christy Miller series. I was IN LOVE with that character! Blond, blue eyes, surfer, spontaneous... sigh.

Glad You Gave This Book a Chance:
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. I didn't have super high expectations of this book, but I read it as I flew from Orlando back to St. Louis in January- OMG that was the best flight ever! I couldn't put the book down and was so sad when they told us to turn off our electronic devices. It's fun and adorable and it's basically impossible to be in a bad mood while reading it.

Hidden Gem Book:
It's sad to say, but I don't think I have many hidden gems on my shelves. :( However, in a way Elizabeth Chadwick is. I'm not sure how it is in other countries, but here, I don't hear many people talking about her. I will on occasion and I've gotten some family and friends to read her books, but I found her on my own while wandering the bookstore. She's a phenomenal writer and an expert in medieval history. Her books are amazingly accurate and tell fantastic stories! I wish more people would read her books.

Important Moment in Your Reading Life:
Maybe when I first read Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone? I'm not sure. Yes, it was a big moment because it began a lifelong love affair with Harry Potter. However, I was always a really big reader and this only fueled the fire.

Just Finished:
Blameless by Gail Carriger. Although, Ruby Red will probably be done by Friday night/sometime Saturday.

Kinds of Books You Won't Read:
Like Kirstie and Willie, 50 Shades of Grey. I've read the Snark Squad recaps and I think that should suffice. Also, I can't bring myself to read anything that is a classic novel with zombies or vampires or something. I love classic novels, and I love supernatural things, but just... no. Mr. Darcy and zombies should never mix.

Longest Book You've Read:
Depending on the edition... Gone With The Wind. (Some editions are over 1000 pages.) But also, Les Miserables, Game of Thrones, The Bible (yes, I've read the whole thing) and Pillars of the Earth. What can I say? I love big books and I cannot lie.

Major Book Hangover Because Of:
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I've had a lot of book hangovers, but both times I've read this book I've gone into major emotional turmoil for a couple days after.

Number of Books You Own:
Kindle: 58
Nook: 20
Office Shelves: 41
Home Shelves: ... I lost count. A LOT (Like... over 100...)

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:
I read and re-read the American Girl books as a kid ALL OF THE TIME! They were so wonderful!

Preferred Place to Read:
I'll read almost anywhere, but I like the couch, my bed, and coffee shops the best.

Quote that Gives You All of the Feels From a Book You've Read:
Always - or almost anything from Harry Potter

Reading Regret:
I don't know if it's a regret, but the first book that popped into my head was Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves. That entire book was just a big cloud of "I have no idea what just happened."

Series You Started and Need to Finish:
The Matched Trilogy by Ally Condie. I read the first one and the second has been sitting on my shelf for a few months now. I haven't gotten the third yet.

Three of Your All Time Favorite Books:
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The Greatest Knight by Elizabeth Chadwick
Harry Potter (all seven count as one) by JK Rowling

Unapologetic Fan-Girl For:
Harry Potter (naturally), John Green, The Night Circus, The Mortal Instruments/The Infernal Devices, and everything Elizabeth Chadwick.

Very Excited for the Release of all the Others:
Everything by Elizabeth Chadwick ever.

Worst Bookish Habit:
I buy books far too often. Visiting the Kindle and Nook stores online have become an awful habit because I spend far too much and I just need to go to the library more often.

X  Marks the Spot:  Start at the Top Left Shelf and Pick the 27th Book:
World Without End by  Ken Follett

Your Latest Book Purchase:
I think I bought Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein and Brooklyn Girls by Gemma Burgess together.

ZZZ-Snatcher Book (Last Book that Kept You WAY Late):
Probably Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. (The first book in The Infernal Devices Trilogy.)

So, what is your Reading Alphabet?

And now... it's time for an announcement!

If you look to your right, (my side-bar) between my GFC followers and my RSS Feed buttons, I have a new email form! (Weekly Love Notes) If you have been getting emails for every post, those should keep coming to you. This new feature though, is to sign up for a weekly love note from me. I'll let you know what's going on in my life, send some love and thoughts your way, and keep you up to date on what's been happening on the blog lately. Who knows? Maybe I'll throw in some extra things here and there - just for people getting love notes! If you're interested, just type in your preferred email address (the one you actually check!) and click "subscribe."

  1. I laughed pretty hard about the 'I like bog books and I cannot lie' thing. Why have I never thought of that? And how great that you did this survey as well *high5*

  2. I've never read any of Elizabeth Chadwick's books but I do enjoy historical fiction especially if it's well researched so I shall have to give them a try - do you recommend one in particular to start with?

Also, I've stolen this idea for my blog, hurrah!

    1. If you like historical fiction, particularly medieval, then you would LOVE her! And I saw your post on your blog. Love it!

    3. Do it! The first one I read was The Greatest Knight and it's still my favorite. (But that could also be a first love sort of thing... so of course nothing compares!) There are other books that go along with TGK, but they all stand alone. So while they are connected, you don't have to read them in a certian order.
