I don't know about you, but I feel like April went by incredibly fast. It's crazy that tomorrow is May. But I guess that's what happens when you work at a church and your month is consumed with Palm Sunday, Confirmation, Easter, and retreats.
Onto this month's soundtrack! Here's a peek into what I've been listening to this month...

I Am Afghanistan
I've been following K.E. Argonza (K.Syrah)'s blog for over a year now. Probably for about as long as I have been a member of 20sb.
She and I are radically different.
However, in spite of our differences, we have so much in common as well, and I always look forward to her latest blog updates.
She is a soldier in the US Army and has spent the last several months in Afghanistan. It's been fascinating to read her stories and and look at the photographs she has taken while overseas.

For Funsies
Thinking about this month's theme (April Fools), I decided to share with you all some of the things I've been finding on the internet that have been making me laugh lately...

13 Again
"I'm spending the weekend with 60 jr. highers."
When hearing this, the most common reaction I receive goes something along the lines of this:
For most people, the thought of spending three days surrounded by 7th and 8th graders is terrifying. And rightly so. They can be quite a scary bunch.

Just Stop
I was challenged.
Or rather - my opinions and thoughts were challenged.
Within the past week I have felt as though my thoughts and opinions have been challenged over and over again. Particularly on relationships and friendships.
People I thought I knew how they would feel on these subjects threw me for a loop, making me want to scream
I can't tell you how many times I've had conversations with people and I've stated variations of the phrase:

Fools of Ourselves- Guest Blogger
Emmy's Note: Yay! Another awesome guest post from my friend Leah. You can find her on Twitter here, and her blog here. I have to say, at first I was a tiny bit hesitant to post this because it's not exactly what I was thinking of when I said my theme of the month was "April Fools." But I decided to 1) it's a good post. 2) That's the beauty of the themes- you the readers can interpret them HOWEVER YOU WANT. I love that! We can take something, and turn it a million different ways and see it from so many points of view. That's one of the great things about love, it's not all the same, and neither are my friends, or the guest blog posts.
And remember - I'm still accepting posts for this month's theme! Email them to lovewokemeupthismorning@gmail.com
I'll admit, when Emily said her theme was "April Fools" my mind didn't immediately jump to things that make me laugh. What I actually thought of was all of the times I've made a fool out of myself.

I don't know about you, but my mind is a steep trap for those things. When I think I've just forgotten all my most embarrassing moments, my subconscious likes to knock me down a flight of stairs, figuratively speaking. It begins to rattle off all of the stupid things I've said and done, to play a movie of the most embarrassing parts of my life.

Life with Others - Guest Blogger
Emmy's Note: Meet my sponsor swap partner for April! Rachel and I go back to our college days. She was a couple years older than me and we were always friends my freshman year, we REALLY became friends after we were on the Weeks of Welcome Staff my sophomore year. But - let her tell you all about herself!
I'm a 20 something teacher who is quickly approaching 30
somethings! I'm just a simple girl trying to lead a simple lifestyle,
making more with less.
Life in the Moment is just that, living life to it's fullest no
matter where the journey takes me. I'm inspired by those around me,
especially the four year olds I teach. True love through the eyes of a
child makes me see beauty in the world!
I love Jesus, teaching, my family, my friends, photography, home decor, veggies and the overuse of exclamation points!
Come stop by and share your story.

There Are No Words
I hate it when I post simply a song or a photo for something.
As Good Friday and Easter came along, I felt as though I should post something.
After all - what happened on Good Friday and Easter are kind of what my entire faith is based on.
Everyone else was posting - so I felt I must post as well.
So I shared a video and the lyrics to a hymn we sang at our Good Friday service at church. It was the best I could do, even though I knew people would see it as one of those typical Christian girl blog cliches.
Here's the thing . . .

Leap of Faith
If you are on the internet at all - you've seen memes such as these popping up all over the place. Inspirational quotes to get you motivated to do something with your life.
Stop thinking - just do.
If you aren't happy - do something about it.
If you want to change the world you can.
They go on and on.
Most of them I like and even believe.

Green Chicken and Play Dough
Day 3: Something Green |
This is a little play dough chicken in her nest of eggs that the 5th grade class from Martin Luther School in Joplin, MO made for me during Camp Noah. We were reading a story about a man who created a big business and just from a small dream about his chickens and their eggs.
Usually I would hold the book up and read out loud and show them the pictures.
This time... they told me to not look at them and just read the book because they were making me a surprise.
The little chicken and her nest!
I was so impressed and they had the proudest looks on their faces from their creation.
Yes, the chicken is green.
But I think it's the best chicken ever because it reminds me of the best 5th grade class I know.

A Very Charlie Adventure
Day 3: Clouds, taken on Instagram (I'm LoveWokeMeUp) |
Have you ever had a day that was solely for creativity? I did this past weekend.
Since it was Palm Sunday/Confirmation weekend I was pretty busy on Friday and Sunday- so when I had a day in between to relax I was really excited! Unfortunately, I didn't sleep in as long as I had hoped that morning. However - I'm glad I didn't because in my ibox I had email cake from You, Me and Charlie!
The last week or so, You, Me and Charlie has been sending out daily emails to their users that they call "email cake." Just a quick little message to get your brain, heart, and creativity inspired! (You can sign up for their emails on the website.) On Saturday, they gave all of the "Charlies" a little adventure to go on and then to tweet about it using hashtags and photos . I figured that since I didn't really have any other plans that day - why not?

Three Days
Happy April!!!!!!
Which means... NEW THEME OF THE MONTH!
April's Theme is: April Fools
I know, I know... April Fools Day was yesterday. However, I usually don't blog on Sundays and considering it was Confirmation/1st Communion/Palm Sunday... getting a post up wasn't part of the plan.
Basically this month- make people laugh? Is there a meme out there on the internet that makes you crack up every time? Maybe you have a classic joke you like to share. Or maybe you and your friends had an epic prank war that you just have to share with someone! And who doesn't love those ridiculous videos we all stumble across on YouTube?
I want to know what makes you laugh!
