A few of my friends even went through a Meyers Briggs phases my senior year and were always having us take the tests and analyzing our relationships and personality traits.
In case you haven't figured it out yet - my friends I are nerds.
All of this means that I know my personality type pretty well, and have actually talked about it before on this blog.
I am an ENFP.
This means:
E= Extrovert
N= Intuitive
F= Feeling
P= Perceiving
I took the test again this morning for the blog prompt just so I can be sure... and it popped up as this:
ENFJ.
WHAT? No no no no no. I am a P! Perceiving not Judging!!!!
But then when I looked at it again it said I leaned "slightly" toward Judging. Which makes sense. I know that there were one or two letters where I was slightly borderline, so I guess it just depends on which version of the test I take. (Much to the surprise of my close family and friends, one of my borderline letters is E/I for extrovert/introvert. I am DEFINITELY an extrovert, but secretly have some introvert tendencies.)
What does this all mean in human terms exactly?
I like people. I love to be around people, they give me energy, I love hanging out and having conversations. I sort through my thoughts and emotions by talking them out. As much as I love reading and on occasion I would rather stay in and curl up with a book... I will still usually choose a social outing over this option. It's all about building relationships!
I can be super crazy, hyper, loud, and ridiculous. I can easily switch from super serious and emotional to loud and insane.
I base my decisions more on my emotions than being rational. I hate boring day-to-day life. Give me adventure! I'll take big risks, do scary things sometimes, act independently (NO I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP!) and my desk is never organized. Ever.
I also tend to live inside of my head. I dream up of fantasy scenarios and when they don't happen in real life I'm disappointed. I over-analyze everything and think deeply about every emotion and thought and action.
However, there were some things about the ENFJ personality type that I resonated with. (Which isn't surprising since it's only one letter difference.) Humility, wanting to serve others, and how even though my opinions are formed through feelings and emotions... they come quickly and are a bit more "organized." So... I guess that makes sense.
Here is a description of ENFJ and here is one for ENFP.
Who else is an ENFP in case you're wondering?
Some pretty awesome people if I do say so myself. Such as....
Mark Twain
Oscar Wilde
Anne Frank
Walt Disney (no wonder I love Disney movies so much!)
Ellen DeGeneres
Kierra Knightly
Orson Welles
Robin Williams
Gwen Stephani
Sarah Michelle Gellar (OMG BUFFY!)
Alicia Silverstone (OMG CLUELESS!)
Daniel Radcliffe (OMG HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Some Fictional Characters:
Rapunzel (Tangled)
Ariel
Simba
Lilo
Lumierre
Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader)
The Count of Monte Cristo
Dr. Ross (ER)
Steve Urkel
Will (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air)
Arwen (Lord of the Rings)
Cher (Clueless again!)
Tom Sawyer
JD (Scrubs)

Ha, I took the test this morning for the first time ever and according to it, I'm an INFJ. I don't know, somehow I don't put too much stock into a 4 letter characterisation of myself. Apparently Remus Lupin shares my status, which makes it okay since I love Lupin.
ReplyDelete(Btw, why does it say Sara Jessica Parker: OMG BUFFY because she is not)
OMG why did I type that? Clearly I'm needing more coffee. Fixing it right now because I totally meant to say Sarah Michelle Geller - not Parker. What's wrong with me? Sigh.
DeleteAnd yeah, you can't totally rely on 4 letters to define your personality. And with each letter there's variances and stuff too. Like, supposedly my boss and I have the same personality type, but he's EXTREME on all four letters, and I'm more borderline with some of them. So we have VERY different personalities! But it can be interesting to learn about though.
i'm "INTJ" which is pretty bang on, except for the judging part. i was expecting the results to come back with "B.I.T.C.H" LOL

I'm an ENFP too! :D
ReplyDeleteENFP's represent!
DeleteOh, well I am normally but when I re-took it just now I came out as ENFJ like you! I agree that there are some things that I resonated with, but I still consider myself to be ENFP.
DeleteI took this test this morning and was not surprised by my results lol I am stopping by from Mingle Monday!
ReplyDeleteReading this, I felt like I could have written in myself... and that's probably because I'M AN ENFP too! The part that especially stuck out to me was this:
ReplyDelete"I base my decisions more on my emotions than being rational. I hate boring day-to-day life. Give me adventure! I'll take big risks, do scary things sometimes, act independently (NO I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP!) and my desk is never organized. Ever.

I could TOTALLY have wrote that myself as well, Erika! It's freaky, haha. I definitely am a believer that anything is possible, even and especially, my fantasy world. ^_-
DeleteI'm a ENFJ, which I think is quite spot on!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm an ENFP in highschool and my friend and I are absolutely obsessed with this stuff just like you and your friends were!
