I love Halloween, which may or may not surprise you. It's one of the reasons why I'm a bad youth minister (probably) - but I love vampires, werewolves, witches, etc. So this is a fun day! Besides, it's the one day a year you can dress us in a Hogwarts costume and people won't think you're weird.
I started my day off with "Time Warp" from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Here is the Glee version, basically because I couldn't remember if there was anything "inappropriate" that you might see in the original.
"Witchcraft" as sung by Frank Sinatra. I love that the old classics are appropriate for any time of year. <3 p="p">3>
I LOVE Lindsey Sterling's rendition of "Phantom of the Opera."
"Night on Bald Mountain" from the Disney movie, Fantasia. Probably one you wouldn't think of right away, but wonderfully creepy and scary.
And of course - the Halloween theme song. Thank you Michael Meyers for being terribly scary. I love the music, but I will never watch the movie because I would get nightmares. For someone who loves Halloween - I LOATHE HATE AND DESPISE horror movies.
Yup... another Disney one. But it's a classic! "This is Halloween" from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
"Disturbia" by Rhianna for all of those hip-hop lovers out there.
"The Monster Mash" was my FAVORITE at Halloween parties when I was a kid.
"Monster" by Skillet. This song is also on my NaNoWriMo playlist. It works for the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, don't you think?
"Little Shop of Horrors" from Little Shop of Horrors. It really shouldn't surprise any of you that I have plenty of showtunes on this playlist.
"I Put A Spell on You" as sung by Bette Midler in Hocus Pocus. My all time FAVORITE Halloween movie.
Does anyone remember Disney's Halloween Treat? I LOVED this as a kid and watched it every year. I kinda miss this. As in... I REALLY miss this.
And what's Halloween without Michael Jackson's "Thriller?" I mean... really.
So... that was more than 10 songs. I couldn't cut any of these out though! All of them are so great! What are your favorite Halloween type songs?
loveeee hocus pocus
ReplyDeleteI might have watched it twice last night...
DeleteOkay so Frank Sinatra, Little Shop of Horrors, Time Warp and This is Halloween?? LOVE this top 10 of songs!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE having a mixture of genres on my playlists. Keeps life interesting. And each artist has their own style to add and puts different spins on things.
Deletei LOVE that lindsey stirling song!! have you seen moon trance? :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteI have! So good!
DeleteI've seen most of one of the Halloween movies and was pleasantly surprised that I did not have nightmares. I think maybe I've been desensitized a little? It freaked me out, but not enough to give me nightmares.
ReplyDeleteI watched most of Zombieland last night. That was interesting.
My youth group went Trick-or-Treat Caroling. They dressed up and went around singing Christmas carols or something. Wish I'd been home to see it or go with them!
I am such a scardy-cat, it's ridiculous. Once I went to go see Disturbia at the movie theatre with my friends and I sat cowering in my seat with my ears covered for almost the whole movie. Then I had to walk home, and it was a night. UGH I was terrified someone was going to murder me.
DeleteAnd I've never heard of Trick-or-Treat Caroling, kind of a nice alternative to a Haunted House. Because obviously... I would never be able to survive that. Haha.
