My Love for Draco, Horcruxes, and Relationship Drama

It's time for the 30 Day Harry Potter Challenge!!!!!!

Which means that the premiere of the final Harry Potter movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, is going to be here in a month.

A MONTH!

I can barely believe it. It's going to be a glorious, sad, wonderful, epic, amazing, depressing, moment.

In honor of this - I am doing the 30 Day Harry Potter Challenge. But don't worry! I know a lot of you aren't as big of Harry Potter fans as I am, so I'll be sure to put in other posts and topics as well. This summer you'll have some awesome guest posts too that I know you all will love.

So let's get this party started!

By the way... if you haven't read the books or seen the movies, but plan to and hate spoilers... just ignore these posts. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Day 1: Your Favorite Book

This one was tough, because I wanted to name two books. However, since it's only day one, I figured that I really shouldn't start the challenge by cheating and talking about two books.

My favorite Harry Potter book is:

There's so much going on in this book - and you learn a lot about the characters. I love learning the history of Voldemort, horcruxes, and seeing the bond between Harry and Dumbledore. But not just them... you really get into Draco and his family dynamics as well. I absolutely LOVED how JK Rowling got into Draco a bit more and gave him a lot more depth than some of the previous books. It's dark and creepy and heart-wrenching.

Although it's hilarious too!

I feel as though among all of the sadness and darkness of this book, I also laughed the most. All of the relationship drama between the students is absolutely hilarious! It made me think of high school and remembering how true all of that was.

This book was such a great balance between moving the plot along, thickening the plot, darkness, and humor. Love love love this book!

Favorite Quote from Half-Blood Prince:

"And Harry realized, with a shock so huge it seemed to root him to the spot, that Malfoy was crying - actually crying- tears streaming down his pale face into the grimy basin." Chapter 24 p. 522

I love it because you see how vulnerable Draco is - and even though he's a pig headed jerk face, he's still a 16 year old teenage guy who is scared. Despite how tough Draco wants to be... he's vulnerable.

I will give a shout out to the very close second in line:

I still get extremely depressed when Cedric dies.

So.... what's your favorite Harry Potter Book?

  1. I think I'm going to like this series! :D

I'm planning to reread the Harry Potter books over the summer, but can't start just yet as I'm still at uni & don't have the books with me.

The details of each one aren't fresh in my mind but I think my favourite is maybe Half-Blood Prince, like you. It's definitely not Order of the Phoenix. Definitely not.

  3. I don't think I'm going to be doing this, considering I still haven't finished 30 Days of Books!! But my favourite is Goblet of Fire. Mostly because of Draco Malfoy, the amazing bouncing ferret ;)

  4. I LOVE the last two books... I almost think of them as the same book, because I cannot read the seventh one without reading the sixth. I love learning the back story in the sixth - and at the end of the seventh, with Snape! SO amazing!
