Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow

Day 16: Are You Excited About the Last Movie, or are You Afraid it Won't do it Justice?

I have so many mixed emotions about the last movie!

Part of me is epiclly excited! Part one of The Deathly Hallows was AMAZING, and I feel like part two is also going to be amazing. The end of the series in the books is awesome, and I love it.

I look forward to all of the premiers of the Harry Potter movies. Seeing them at midnight is the only way to do it too. All of the really hardcore people are there, you dress up, sit in line for hours and hours in order to get a good seat, and sometimes you even make friends.

True story. I totally made a friend at the last one. She sat in front of me and was dressed as Ginny. I've even had lunch with her family. She's kinda awesome.

The movie itself will be amazing. I can't wait for the epic battle scene at the end.

At the same time- I'm dreading it. Not because I don't think it'll rise to expectations, but for the fact that once the credits are done rolling (and I'll probably sit there through the credits), it means that it's all over.

Yeah, I know JK Rowling is starting Pottermore which is awesome.

But I know it won't be the same.

My generation grew up with Harry Potter. I started reading the books when I was about 13, and here I am, going to be 25 in 5 days, and it'll all be over. No new books or movies or anything.

When the last book came out, even Stephen Kin was sad. In his column for Entertainment Weekly he says:

"When it comes to Harry, part of me — a fairly large part, actually — can hardly bear to say goodbye"

It's a great article he wrote by the way. You can find it here.

I know I'll move on, and be fine once it's all over. I'll be able to re-read and re-watch all of the books and movies as often as I like. I'll have other books to read and movies to watch. Life moves on.

But I feel as though none will truly compare to Harry Potter.

How are you all feeling as you approach the big day?

  1. I havent seen the last two films before this so I feel like I'm just not in the loop anymore. ha ha i really am soooo excited for TWILIGHT THOUGH!! Ahhh. Your passion for films and books really excites me. I'm reading WUTHERING HEIGHTS now btw. SUCHHHH A good read.. blessings girl

  2. I'm excited, but also slightly terrified that it won't live up to my expectations. I can also foresee me going through an entire box of tissues before it's over! :(

Share with me your thoughts! They make me smile.
