Master of Death

Day 10: Horcruxes or Hallows?

I would totally choose the Deathly Hallows over Horcruxes.

For those of you who may not know what the heck Horcruxes and Hallows are... here is what http://harrypotter.wikia.com says:

"A Horcrux is a very powerful object in which a Dark wizard or witchhas hidden a fragment of his or her soul for the purpose of attaining immortality.

"The Deathly Hallows are three highly powerful magical objects supposedly created by Death and given to each of three brothers in the Peverell family. They consisted of the Elder Wand, an immensely powerful wand that was considered undefeatable; theResurrection Stone, a stone which could summon the spirits of the dead, and the Cloak of Invisibility, which, as its name suggests, renders the user completely invisible. According to the story, both Antioch Peverell (owner of the Wand) and Cadmus Peverell (owner of the Stone) came to bad ends. However, Ignotus Peverell's wisdom in requesting the Cloak was rewarded.
"According to legend, he who possesses these three artefacts would become the Master of Death."

First of all, I want to make it clear that I have no desire to be a "Master of Death" or to be immortal. However, if I had to choose I would go for the Hallows.

The thing with Horcruxes is that you have to tear off a fragment of your soul and put it inside of the horcrux. In order to do that, you have to kill. I don't know about you, but I'm not a fan of murder. Even if your tore your soul in another way I wouldn't do that though. If you don't have part of your soul, you don't have part of yourself. What good is immortality if you don't have all of yourself?

Therefore, I wold choose the Deathly Hallows. The thing about the Hallows is learning how to not abuse them.

For example: in the tale of "The Three Brothers", the brother who received the elder wand went showing off what he could do with it, killed someone, then got killed himself because someone wanted the wand. Those are examples of making bad choices. If you have the elder wand, you really shouldn't show it off and tell everyone that you have it. Because then they'll kill you.

With the resurrection stone, just don't use it at all. In that part of the story, the woman they raised from the dead was unhappy because she didn't belong in the world of the living.

The invisibility cloak is pretty awesome though. The brother who received it didn't abuse it, and Harry gets some pretty great use out of it in the books. I would LOVE to have an invisibility cloak!

So yeah, hallows over horcruxes any day.
