Speak Up! | Heart

It's the first Friday of the month! Which means it's time to link up with Amber and Annie for Speak Up, their monthly vlog link-up. This month's topic is "heart."

I had no idea what I was going to talk about, then it all kinda just spilled out of my mouth. This video started as 23 minutes long - so there was A TON of stuff cut out to make it only 10 minutes. Haha. I'm working on trying to keep them short though!

In my video I talk about Hozier's song "Take Me to Church," say "ass" while discussing theology, and share my coffee/tea dilemma.

Mr. Thomas and Me

What are your thoughts? I'd love to hear them in the comments. Or, even better, make your own video and link up!

I'm also linking up with the Faith and Fellowship Blog Hop!

  1. So, when I first heard the song I was like "Eh, good music, but not sure about these lyrics." After listening to your video...now I have to go back and listen again LOL. I think I like your take on it.

Because I've heard the Love is Blind thing, and I do agree to a certain point. I fiercely love my husband, like it literally surprises me sometimes how upset I get if ANYONE says anything even remotely bad or untrue of him no matter how slight (so, slightly concerned about that whole mama bear thing when the time comes if it's this intense with him). '

But- I also think love, true & strong love, is a mirror. You will see yourself, the best and worst, when you truly open yourself to loving someone fully- whether a spouse, a child, or Christ. In a way, it is the best thing you can do to really learn about yourself.

Also, I think the BEST discussions are the ones that can include cussing, alcohol (since you mentioned wine), and theology. There is something in that freedom to not stay in one little bubble (either a drinker OR a Christian, etc) that allows for more honest and thoughtful and authentic conversation.

  2. Wait. Your sweater. ADORABLE. Your mug. ADORABLE. I just can't stop being full of adoration.

Let's talk about tea. I have been drinking tea all morning (every morning) because it's SO COLD here in the morning hours. I LOVE Tazo Passion tea with a little bit of Truvia in it. Green tea I drink straight, but I also love it with lemon. Oh just give me ALL THE TEA.

Hozier. I still have no clue how to say it, but HIS MUSIC. Basically. I mean, every ounce of it is so lovely. And that quote. BE STILL MY HEART. And the idea that we are brought up through loving others, whoa. It's absolutely true, just yes, absolutely that's why marriage is so delightful (right?).

    AMEN!

  3. I used to be a total coffee addict. I mean, I worked in a coffee shop for 5 years. But lately I've switched to tea because coffee makes me jittery. I love them both for totally different reasons. I think coffee will always be my main hot drink but there is something just calming about tea, you know?

I know I owe you an email, this week has been ridiculous. Soon I promise!

  4. I love your mug! I'm more a coffee person than a tea person, but I tried an iced chai tea last fall and really loved it. So, if you're at a coffee shop and they sell iced chai tea, you should definitely give it a shot.

I love that quote from the interview with The Irish Times! That really is such a beautiful depiction of what Jesus's love looks like for us and what happens to us when we love. I've never explored the correlation between love and death in that way and I'm excited to ponder it some more.

  5. OK tea! Yogi teas are the best! Chai tea (Specifically Oregon Chai) is also amazing and I love it iced or hot. Teas with citrus typically don't mix with milk/cream but spiced teas can, such as Chai. http://www.yogiproducts.com <--- go there and check out all the teas from a bag my favorites are the Pomegranate green tea, Honey Lavender Stress relief tea and the Echinacea Immune support tea. OH and they have ones you can use in your Keurig! BUT for chai go with this http://www.oregonchai.com can't go wrong! AMAZING! I know I mostly spoke to your tea needs but I was so excited to share as 3 years ago I got into tea and trust me girl, you know I love my coffee but I also drink tea almost every night!
