Life is an Adventure

Emmy's Note:  Today's guest post for July's theme of "Words to Live By" is from one of my sponsors, Alexandra! Whenever she talks about how much she has traveled and all of the places that she's been to, I sometimes forget that she's only 17! You can read about more of her adventures at This Journey of Journeys

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” –Helen Keller

These words inspire me.  I’m a lucky person because I’ve had opportunities to travel far away, and go to “exotic” places. I lived on my own for 3 months at age 17, and I’m about to head off to college out of state.
But it’s not the grand travels that are our adventures. That might be the plot of a movie; girl falls in love in Italy, girl discovers herself while living alone, girl eats a taco in new jersey- ok that last one is just silly, but I would love a taco ;)

It’s the everyday living that is the adventure. Each day is one step in our journey, because life IS a journey! It doesn’t matter if you live in the same house for 20 years, it is still an adventure. At least, that’s how we *should* be living. But we don’t really do that, do we?

So many of us take our adventures for granted. It all becomes part of the shuffle of days that clump together and we call it life.

Helen Keller was blind and deaf; and she is the one who told us to live life as an adventure! Doesn’t that make you feel a little guilty? Have you been living your life to the fullest? I know I haven’t, and I am the one who has traveled a whole bunch!

I love my boyfriend for many reasons, one of which being that whenever we go out we say “it’ll be an adventure!” (And quite honestly, we say that when we get lost while driving, ha!) It is a great mindset.

Every day, I should live life as adventure, or else, it is nothing at all.
