That's crazy talk!
I have seriously been neglecting the blog this month.
Okay, maybe not seriously, but I feel as though I haven't been posting much. This is for two reasons.
1) I simply don't have a whole lot to blog about. Now that summer is over and school has started up again, my life is pretty boring. I go to work, play practice, come home, sleep. Repeat. Eating, researching steampunk, and watching Netflix is thrown in there as well. (Anyone else completely addicted to Vampire Diaries? Cause I totally am.) I could write random stupid stuff, but you lovely readers deserve better than that.
2) I've been busy doing VEDA (Vlog Every Day August). If you haven't seen my videos, check out my YouTube channel here. Even though the videos are short, it takes a lot of time to make them. I'm getting the hang of it and it's been pretty fun. Although I'll be glad to not do this every single day. While I've been enjoying VEDA - it's a lot of work and I don't have time to make every single video awesome. BUT, if anyone has tips or knows how to do certain effects (like showing recaps of your previous video...), let me know! I want to learn more.
That's been my August.
Which means it's time to share with you the songs I've been listening to all month!
Also, in September I am taking a break from sponsors. I feel like I haven't been the best sponsor host and need to rethink some things. Maybe in October I'll it up again and it will be even better! In the meantime, check out my sponsor from August and September - Angie! She's outrageously awesome and I think you will love love love her! Her blog is: http://www.lariatsandlavender.com/ She's one of the sweetest people you will find on the internet. I promise.
One of my favorite pictures of Angie! |
Anyways. Back to the music I've been listening to.
Seasons of Love from the musical Rent. I'm warning you now, I've been on a showtunes kick lately. Granted, I'm always listening to show tunes - but it's worse than usual. So most of my soundtrack this month will be songs from musicals.
Sami by Darren Criss. If you are familiar with A Very Potter Musical you know that there is a song called "Harry" which Ginny sings. Well... Darren wrote a version called "Sami." I don't know who Sami is... but can I be her?
Dangerous and Sweet by Lenka. My friend Todd introduced me to Lenka last year - and I love her.
River Deep Mountain High as sung by the Glee cast. Sorry it's the Glee version... but it is good and I love blasting this song in my car.
My Junk from the musical Spring Awakening. Here is a live version of when the original cast sang it in Bryant Park in 2007. Because Lea Michelle was brilliant long before Glee existed.
There's a Fine, Fine Line from the musical Avenue Q. I told you - a lot of musicals this month. Avenue Q is completely hilarious and the perfect musical for people in their 20s and 30s. And this is one of the few "appropriate" songs that I can share.
Roxie from the film version of the musical, Chicago. Last show tune- I promise! Also, I love that the musical about Chicago is about murderesses. It just makes me laugh.
Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap. Leah played this song when I was helping her unpack, and I love it.
Heart Song by Big Kids. Darren Criss shared this song on Twitter yesterday and I fell in love!

ReplyDeleteThanks Beka! And I just emailed you!
Deleteyou'd be so proud of me... i made a rent reference the other day!
ReplyDeleteawwwww. I am proud!
DeleteI think "Sami" might be from another show that some of the Starkids did, Little White Lie? I haven't seen it, but it's on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteI know they did "Harry" which is the same song with different lyrics... do you have the link for the video you're talking about?
DeleteWait... I might have found it. HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT LITTLE WHILE LIE BEFORE THIS????
DeleteThat is SO awesome that you like Lenka! My friend Trey went on tour with her, I think he was one of her guitar players? Anyway, he sings his own stuff, too. Look Trey Lockerbie up on YouTube :)
ReplyDeleteI've been feeling the same way, that I simply don't have much to blog about lately. It would be nice to have some more direction, or some really huge, life-changing developments to report...but nope. Same ol song and dance over here. Haha. School, work, and Netflix. It's a good, good life. :D
