Love Drop #1- Jill

It's funny how God talks to us sometimes.

The last week or so I've been reading the book Save Me From Myself by Brian "Head" Welch. For those of you who are familiar with late 90's early 2000's rock/metal scene.... yes that is the lead guitarist from the band Korn. I wasn't that into Korn back then. I liked some of their stuff, but when they were popular I was more of an NSYNC girl. Although I was familiar with some of their hits because some of my closest friends were fans. So when I saw Head's book at Barnes and Noble I couldn't help but do a double take.

Is that who I think it is??????

Yup. Apparently I had been living under a rock and "Head" had become a Christian then wrote a book about it. He has another one out that is a 40 day devotional. I'm considering reading it during Lent. So naturally I pick it up. Today I finally got to the part when God woke him up and brought Head closer to him. It's pretty amazing. It happened so quickly and it was so drastic I felt like I was reading about the Apostle Paul's conversion in the Bible. The day after he did a public testimony he flew off to Israel and now I'm reading about when he goes to India.

As I'm reading this book all I can think about is "God, I feel like you want me to do something . . . but I have no idea what." I felt stuck. Knowing that God wants me to do something to share his love with others but not what it was has been really brining me down today. I think I've been feeling like this a lot lately, being stuck. Not knowing what God is saying. Reading Save Me From Myself made that feeling even stronger. The rainy/mistyness of the weather today didn't help.

Just as I was thinking about this I got an email. It said:

Wanna Be a LOVE DROP BLOGGER

If you don't know what that means... I'll explain in a minute. Watch this video first.

How You Can Help
-----------------------
This project is all about coming up with creative and fun ways to make a difference for someone. Here's what you can do to make our first Love Drop special for Jill and her family:

  • Join the team - Become a member by paying whatever you want. Even $1.00.
  • Join our blogger network - Blog about our Love Drops once a month! It's easy, it's rewarding, and it REALLY helps spread the word (which in turn helps the families!). Love Drop will give you all the content you need.
  • Give a gift or provide a service - Gift cards, household goods, football cards/jerseys for the boys, web design services, pampering gifts for Jill, etc. (email all ideas/questions to team (at) lovedrop.us, and we'll make it happen)

What Love Drop is
------------------------

[Main:]
Love Drop is a micro-giving network of people who unite as a community to help one person or family a month. By subscribing to the team for as low as $1, they make it easy for their members to change lives in a fun and tangible way. Each month Love Drop delivers a unique combination of unexpected financial gifts, personal encouragement and the support of local and online communities.

[Secondary:]
Every month the Love Drop community comes together to raise as much support and awareness as we possibly can. It starts on the website - LoveDrop.us, gets spread across our entire network of blogs, continues through the forums where all our members are brainstorming, and finally lands on the front steps of our recipients. Literally.

At the end of every month, Nate and J$ show up in the town the people live in to deliver this pile of goodness. The money, the gifts, the services, everything! It's all on film, and it all ends with an amazing outpouring of love. And then it starts all over again the next month. Help them, and their flagship partner, Kona Grill, make this drop in Chicago amazing!

***
So now I'm a Love Drop Blogger. Each month I'll dedicate one of my posts to Love Drop to spread the word to help someone else. And what better month to start, but when we are helping someone from MY CITY CHICAGO?

Is this the "big thing" I'm wondering God wants me to do? I have no idea. But it's a start.

So check it out. Go to LoveDrop.us  and donate. You can donate monthly (seriously.... won't can't afford $1 a month???) or just this once. Or maybe you can pick up some Target gift cards and send them. (If this is your plan email me and I can get you the info.)

  2. I did the same thing at the bookstore! It caught me off guard, so I was like "whaaaaaaaat?!...hey, well, good for him." I need to read it, i'll bet it's crazy inspiring.

I think the best thing you can do if you feel like He's really trying to call you to something is pray about it a lot. Maybe go to adoration or daily mass, or pray the rosary, it's a fantastic way to say, okay, i'm listening, let me follow your will.

The love drop blogging looks interesting! I'll have to read up.

  3. Hey, I actually saw in interview with him a few months back and thought it was pretty cool. I was not really a Korn fan but my best friend was so I knew very little about them except what she told me... anyways, I love this post and you've got me wanting to get the book..
