I Hate That I Don't Hate You, Not Even Close, Not Even A Little Bit, Not Even At All



Day 4: Least Favorite Female Character and Why


This one is almost too easy... it's a bit ridiculous. (Also, if you can name what movie I got the title of this post from, you are AWESOME!)

I mean... seriously. The woman is just plain evil. Who in the world makes students scratch words into their hands as punishment? It's torture. UGH. I can't even express how much I loathe and despise Umbridge. When Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix came out, a close friend of mine would call me randomly just to vent about Ubridge and we would discuss how much we couldn't stand her.


But here's the problem:


The fact that I despise her this much.... means that she is a brilliant character and written PERFECTLY.


Which means I can't really hate her - because she's just that good at being evil.


Which just makes me want to not like her even more.


GAH!


Oh the woes of a literary geek who is entirely too wrapped up in fictional worlds.


Darn you JK Rowling for being brilliant!


Also... if you notice in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 .... her patronus is a cat. Which MUST mean cats are evil.

Just saying.

    And I agree, the whole writing-with-your-own-blood thing was pure evil!

    Oh Emily, your love for 10 Things I Hate About You makes me so happy! I used to skip the Umbridge parts because they made me so mad.

    You know, I really think I might need to rewatch 10 Things for the five BILLIONTH time this afternoon......... ;)

    I'm rereading Order of the Phoenix now, and have just reached the part where Umbridge makes her speech at the welcome back feast. I already want to punch her...

    i have a friend that has dressed up twice as Delores for Halloween. While I haven't read books 4-7 so I don't know much about the character, her personality seems totally against this description! But she did look pretty good in the costume!
