Awesome Female Role Models- Nani

Today's awesome female role model needs some background music...

One of the best Disney characters (at least in my humble opinion) is not a princess. She's a 19 year old girl whose parents died in a car crash, keeps losing her jobs, and has to take care of her little sister... and an alien.

Nani from Lilo and Stitch.

Why Am I Watching This Awful Show?

"It's amazing." they said.

"I cried so hard during that show!" they told me.

"Everything is so clever and thoughtfully put together." they said.

So I watched. I opened up Netflix on my trusty laptop and typed in the title of the show. It popped up quickly, since it had been shown on my home screen several times under what they recommended for me.

After the first few minutes I couldn't help but think... "What the he** is this crap? Living plastic? Running? This awful dialog? Did they use my point and shoot camera to film this? Why did I let someone talk me into watching this ridiculously terrible show?"

I lamented to my friends.

"Just push through it," they told me. "The first few episodes are terrible, which is so sad because the rest of the show is so good. Just push through it."

I'm A WHAT?

I've taken several versions of the Meyer's Briggs Personality test over the last 9 years or so. From my freshman year of college on, this personality test keeps popping up in my life. We talked about it in class so we could learn how to be the best leaders we could, how to mesh with other people, learning about ourselves and the people around us, etc.

A few of my friends even went through a Meyers Briggs phases my senior year and were always having us take the tests and analyzing our relationships and personality traits.

In case you haven't figured it out yet - my friends I are nerds.

All of this means that I know my personality type pretty well, and have actually talked about it before on this blog.

I am an ENFP.

What If

We sat in our pews, side by side with our family and friends, dressed in our nice clothes, and waited.

For the last four years of our college careers, we had been looking toward . . . but also dreading this day.

Internship placement.

Pack Your Bags!

Because I'm obsessed with giving you music lately, here is a song for you to listen to as you read:

I didn't link-up for Blogtember yesterday due to my Awesome Female Role Models post, and I'm stumped on what to do for today's topics, I'm going to do yesterday's!

If I could take three months off of work and do anything, I would grab some family/friends and run away to Europe. While this probably isn't very unique, I'm sure many other bloggers have said the same thing or something along those lines as well, I just know that is what I would want to do.

Awesome Female Role Models- Mia

It's Wednesday, - and that means it's time for another Awesome Female Role Model!

This week I wanted to feature one of my favorite Disney princesses: Mia Thermopolis from The Princess Diaries. (The first movie. One, because I read some of the books and honestly liked the movie better. Don't hate me. Two, I only own the first movie and wasn't able to watch the second one last night.)

As always, if you haven't read the books/watched the movies, this post may contain spoilers.

When we first meet Mia, she's really nothing special. Honestly, as I was watching the movie I had a lot of second thoughts as I thought about her character critically. "She isn't a good role model at all!" I thought several times. The great thing though... is her transformation into one by the end of the movie.

I Could Tell You...

It amazes me how people can so easily and happily sum up their childhoods, their neighborhoods, their families, and where they come from.

They know exactly what and who it is that has made them who they are.

I have trouble defining things so precisely - especially in just a single blog post.

Where/What I come from?

It's a complicated answer.

Day Off

It's Labor Day here in America. A day off for many of us.

A chance to sleep a bit later than usual. Take my time to get ready in the morning. Actually make a little bit of breakfast to get the day going. Listen to the most wonderful playlist while my coffee brews and I'm checking my morning updates. Sitting on the couch and reading a book. Binging on Netflix for a few hours.

I have a list of things I plan to get done today. Fold laundry, grocery shopping, get going on a project or two... But there's no need to rush to get them done.

It's a day off.
